Francigena Way between Tuscany and Lazio

Walking in beauty

From Val d'Orcia to Bolsena Lake

Francigena Way is one of the most ancient way of pilgrimage in Europe, from Canterbury (in England) to Rome, dated from del X century.

Not many people can walk all the way, but everyone can have the possibility to take a few steps in it, and one of the most amazing corner is in Italy (of course!) between Tuscany (Val d'Orcia) and Lazio (Bolsena Lake).

You can start from San Quirico d'Orcia (that is near villages like Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza) walking toward Radicofani, a beautiful hamlet on a vulcanic hill

The day after, walking through rolling hills, you may arrive to Acquapendente, a village characterized by many sources (the name sounds like "waterfall")

If you are not tired, you can walk again - the third day - until Bolsena, an amazing village with the suggestive catacombs of St. Cristina

A little more effort, and on the fourth day, in the beautiful contest of Bolsena Lake, you can arrive - walking on the original Roman consular road ("Cassia Road") - to Montefiascone, famous for its wine "EST,EST,EST"

 Welcome... and enjoy it!

Hikes in July

Between Umbria and Tuscany

Paths of history

Get lost enjoying in Vallo di Nera

It will be a pleasure to walk along a lane and don't know where are you going, enter in a covered alleyway and discover - suddenly - an amazing corner of light, imagine the life of the village in time of war and peace, and jump back, in few minutes,  to 1217, when the hamlet was fortified.
Vallo di Nera is the name of this place...

...it's in Umbria, of course... In the "green heart" of Italy!
